Indians post top 5 finish at Hinds Invitational

Raymond, Miss. – The Indians earned their first top five finish of the season in the first MACCC event of the year at the Hinds Fall Invitational.

In the second round, the Indians improved on their first-round total by two strokes turning in a 314 (+26) team total. With a two day total of 630 (+36), the Indians finished in the top five as they were tied for fifth with the hosting Hinds Eagles.

Landry Miller (Florence, Ala.) shot a 75 (+3) on day two to bring his tournament total score to 146 (+2) earning him a top five spot as he tied with Meridian's Ethan Dyess.

Shawn Cox (Little Rock, Ark.) had a solid day Sunday shooting an even par (72) and jumping 15 spots to finish in a three-way tie for 20th with a 153 (+9) total.

Braxton Kesler (Saltillo) also improved shooting six strokes better, 80 (+8), on Sunday to finished tied for 41st with Trace Sonnier (Vancleave). Both of the Indians finished with a 166 (+22) two-day total.

Hayden McCostlin (Bruce) finished in 49th after shooting an 87 (+15) on day two to finish with a 172 (+28) total.

The Indians next tournament will be the ICC Fall Invitational held at Riverbirch Golf Club in Amory, Oct. 4-5.
