Indians show improvement in Round 2 of Derrall Foreman Invitational

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Indians showed improvement across the board in the second round of the Derrall Foreman Invitational at Cleveland County Club. The Indians remain in 10th place at 597 (+21) after 36 hole on Monday.

Despite improving a stroke, Landry Miller (Florence, Ala.) slipped from 15th to a three-way tie for 19th after carding a 68 (-4) for a two-round total of 137 (-7). Shawn Cox (Little Rock, Ark.) shot two strokes better on his second round with a 68 (-4) to climb from 24th into a six-way tie for 22nd at 138 (-6).

Hughes Powell (Tupelo) jumped from 58th to 56th after turning in a 76 (+4) for a two-round total of 161 (+17). Trace Sonnier (Vancleave) slid back a spot but was able to shave four strokes off his round one score with a 79 (+7) to bring him to 162 (+18) for the tournament. Hayden McCostlin (Bruce) dropped to 58th with an 81 (+9) for a 165 (+21) on the day.

Alessio Graziani of Gulf Coast CC and JJ Zimmer of Union University were the leaders after day one with a 129 (-15). Central Alabama CC held on to its team lead after round one with a 528 (-48) two-round total.

The second round team total of 291 (+3) is the team's best score under the direction of Coach Scott Milam.
