Golf in second place after Day 1 of the Itawamba Invitational

AMORY, Miss. – The ICC golf team is in second place after turning in one of their lowest team scores in the last five years in the opening round of the Itawamba Invitational at Ackia Golf Club in Amory.

ICC finished the day with a total score of 298 (+10). The defending national champion Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is leading the tournament at 278 (-10). Meridian Community College is in third place at 303 (+15) with Co-Lin, Hinds and the ICC B Team holding the final three spots.

Dean Garrett (New Albany) leads the Indians after round one and is currently in seventh place carding a 73 (+1) on Monday. Gulf Coast's Brice Wilkinson and Meridian's Will Kidder ended the day tied for first place at 68 (-4).

Brandon Barrett (Tupelo), Hunter Lucas (Belmont), Art Thompson (Columbus), and B Team member Tyler Cheslak (Southaven) are currently in a six-way tie for eighth place at 75 (+3). Garrett Moore (Southaven) finished the day tied for 18th at 77 (+5).

Other B Team members include: Parker Humber (Tuscumbia, Ala.), who is tied for 31st at 80 (+8) along with Wilson Gammill (Ackerman) and Larsen Lee (Pontotoc), both are tied for 33rd with an 86 (+14). Parker Brown (Oxford) went into the clubhouse at 35th after carding an opening round 96 (+24).

The Indians' B Team carded a 327 (+39) to finish the day in sixth place.

All golfers will tee off at 8:00 a.m. on the final day of play in Amory.
