Indians finish fourth in Hinds Invitational

RAYMOND, Miss. – The ICC golf team finished fourth in the Hinds Invitational in its season opener over the weekend at Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

The Indians shot a second-round score of 303 after an opening-round 305 to finish with a team total of 608 (+32). Defending national champion Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College rallied from a 2-stroke deficit to win the inaugural event of the season with a two-day total 592 (+16).

Brandon Barrett (Tupelo) finished tied for seventh at 150 (+6) and was eight shots behind medalist Mitchell Fifer of Meridian Community College. Barrett shot a 74 (+2) to open the tournament and finished the final day of play at 76 (+4).

Dean Garrett (New Albany) carded a 74 (+2) on Sunday after shooting a 77 (+5) on Saturday to finish tied for tenth at 151 (+7). Art Thompson (Columbus) carded a 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) for a two-day total of 153 (+9) to finished 19th. Garrett Moore (Southaven) finished tied at 21st after turning in back-to-back rounds of 77 (+5) to finish with a 154 (+10) total. Hunter Lucas (Belmont) turned in a final round 79 (+7) to earn a tie for the 33rd spot of the tournament.
