PHILADELPHIA, Miss. – The ICC golf season came to an end on Friday, as the Indians failed to make the cut at the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District D Championship after finishing fifth in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Championship tournament at Dancing Rabbits Golf Club.
Needing to finish the top four of the tournament, the Indians finished 10 strokes behind host East Central Community College for the final spot in the District Championship after totaling 630 for the two-day tournament.
Brandon Walker (Vardaman) shot a team-low 75 for a two-day total of 149 to finish seventh in the field of 30 golfers.
After Thursday's 77, Cameron Foster (Southaven) posted another 77, finishing two strokes out of a top 10 finish at 154 (+10) for the tournament. Garrett Moore (Southaven) put together rounds of 83 and 80 to finish 22nd with a two-day score of 163 (+19).
Brandon Barrett (Tupelo) rebounded from an opening-round 91 with an 81 on the final game of play to finish 28th with a 172 (+28) while Hunter Lucas (Belmont) turned in an 83 and 95 for a two-day total 178 (+34) to finish 30th.
Meridian Community College picked up the MACJC Championship with a team-total of 577 (+1) with Will Kidder (Meridian) taking home medalist honors with a two-day total of 140 (-4) to be one of three players to finish under-par for the tournament.
Walker and Foster qualified for the District D Championship through their season-long scoring average while Moore advanced based on his finish in the MACJC tournament. The District Championship will be held at Lion Hills on April 28-29 in Columbus.
