Golf in fifth place after Day 1 of MACJC Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. – The ICC men's golf team sits in fifth place after carding a first-round score of 317 (+29) after the first day of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Golf Championship at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia.

Leading the way for ICC was Brandon Walker (Vardaman), who shot a 2-over par 74 to finish the day in eighth place.

Cameron Foster (Southaven) finished the opening round tied for 12th after turning in a five-over 75. Hunter Lucas (Belmont) and Garrett Moore (Southaven) went into the clubhouse tied at 24th after firing an 11-over 83. Brandon Barrett (Tupelo) enters the second round at 33rd with a 19-over 91.

Jackson Wedgeworth of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College sits atop of the leaderboard with a five-under 67. The top ranked Bulldogs also lead the tournament with a team score 285 (-3).

ICC will have to finish in fourth place or better to advance to the regional tournament. The Indians are five strokes out of third place with East Central Community College and Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

Day 2 of the MACJC Championship will start at 7:30 with Barrett starting the day for the Indians at 8:10.
