Golf in 3rd place after Day 1 of Meridian Invitational

MERIDIAN, Miss. - The Indians sit 17 strokes back after the opening round of the Meridian Invitational on Monday at Northwood Country Club.

ICC shot 304 in the opening round and head into the clubhouse in fourth place out of eight teams. Host Meridian grabbed the overall lead with a 287, with Gulf Coast (292) five strokes back and Co-Lin (297) ten strokes off the lead.

Dylan Darling (Caledonia) led the Indians with an opening round 71 (E), two strokes off the lead held by Co-Lin's Zachary Smith at 69 (-2).

Brandon Walker (Vardaman) carded a 75 (+4) while Hunter Lucas (Belmont) finished the first 18 with a 77 (+6). Cameron Foster (Southaven) and Garrett Moore (Southaven) each turned in an 81 (+10) at the end of the day.

Parker Humber (Caledonia) finished the opening round with an 83 (+12) with Todd Harrell (Vardaman) entering the clubhouse with an 84 (+13). Boone Faulkner (New Albany) rounded at the day with a 98 (+27).
