Golf 8th after opening round of Hinds Invitational

RAYMOND, Miss. - Hunter Lucas (Belmont) finished one stroke out of the Top 10 after carding a 74 (+2) after 18 holes to lead the Indians to an eighth-place start to the Hinds Invitational at Eagle Ridge.

The Indians totaled 306 (+18) as a team while the B team finished the day tied for 10th with a 327 (+29). Meridain took the lead into the clubhouse with a 208 (-8) with Isaiah Jackson of Meridian leading the pack with a 64 (-8) in the opening day of the two-day event. 

A team member, Brandon Walker (Vardaman) finished the day tied for 16th after carded a 75 (+3).

Cameron Foster (Southaven) shot a 77 (+5), Garrett Moore (Southaven) finished the opening round tied for 41st at 80 (+8) and Dylan Darling (Caledonia) rounded out the A team scoring tied for 46th with a 81 (+9) on Saturday. 

Parker Humber (Caledonia) lead the B team with a 79 (+7) to finished Day 1 tied for 36th. Wade McDowell (Lucedale) fired an 80 (+8) to earn a tie for 41st while Kaelb Hayman (Pelathatchie) and Todd Harrell (Vardaman) finished the day tied for 54th at 84 (+12).
