ICC golfers earn NJCAA and MACJC academic honors

FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College golfers Mitch Doom (Ecru), Dustin Jensen (Pontotoc), Justin Jensen (Pontotoc) and Taylor Vaughn (Ackerman) were named to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Academic All-State team when the league released their annual postseason honors last week.
"I'm really proud of these guys," said Coach David Rather. "There's a lot of hard work that goes into being a student-athlete on this level that people may or may not realize. So this a big honor for these guys to be able to succeed in the classroom as well as on the golf course."
Vaughn closed out his career with a 3.77 GPA, narrowly missing Distinguished Academic All-State honors, and was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Exemplary Academic Achievement Award list.
Doom finished his final season at ICC with a 3.38 GPA while Dustin Jensen had a 3.54 and Justin Jensen a 3.46 GPA.
