McDaniels, Dawkins sign to the next level

FULTON, Miss. – ICC men's basketball players Tycen McDaniels of Columbus, Ga. and Bryson Dawkins of Ozark, Ala. have both signed to continue their careers at the next level.

McDaniels will stay in-state and play at Alcorn State University next season while Dawkins heads to Texas to join the Houston Christian University Huskies in Houston, Texas.

During his freshman season, McDaniels recorded 125 points along with 44 blocks and 23 assists as well as collected 111 rebounds and 27 steals. He had three double-double performances with his best a 17-point and 10-rebound performance at Jackson State in January.

McDaniels joins the Braves that compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and are a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member.

In his lone season at ICC, Dawkins was the Indians' top scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game, a total of 426 (20 or more in seven games with the most – 27 at Gulf Coast). He finished the season with 181 rebounds, 97 assists, 50 steals and 20 blocks while he secured five double-double performances.

Dawkins' new Huskies team competes in the Southland Conference (SLC) and are a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member.
