Marshall’s career night leads Indians to regular season finale win

Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College freshman guard George Marshall (Jackson) scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Indians to an 85-72 win over Jones College in the regular season finale Thursday night.

In an electric atmosphere, the Indians (21-4, 11-3 MACCC) and Bobcats battled in the first half and by halftime ICC held a 41-38 lead.

The Bobcats went on a run in the second half to take a nine point lead, 56-47, with just under 14 minutes left to play.

Rock Robinson (Pontotoc) put the Indians back in the lead, 66-65, on a three-pointer with six minutes left on the clock. Robinson's three sparked an 11-2 run that stretched the Indians lead to 77-67.

Marshall led the charge in the second half, scoring 20 of his 30 points, and helped the Indians hold off Jones in the final three minutes to pick up the 85-72 victory.

Josh Lee (Canton) scored 19 points, followed by Robinson with 17 in the win, and Gemari Marshall (Jackson) added 11 points.

The Indians now wait to see who they will face in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament that is scheduled to start next week.
