Indians defeat #21 Northeast, 79-71

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians defeated No. 21 Northeast Mississippi Community College, 79-71, in front of an electric crowd at the Davis Event Center on Monday.

Four players scored in double digits for the Indians. Gemari Marshall (Jackson) came off the bench to score 18 points, George Marshall (Jackson) added 14 points and 8 rebounds, Rock Robinson (Pontotoc) had 13 and Josh Lee (Canton) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds.

The Indians (12-1, 2-0 MACCC) overcame a 35-32 halftime deficit with an 8-2 run in the first three minutes of the second half. The Tigers (10-4, 1-1 MACCC) answered with a three pointer to tie the game, 40-40, but the ICC rallied with a 17-6 run to take a 57-46 lead on a George Marshall three with 11:25 left in the game.

Northeast rallied twice to cut the Indians' lead inside double digits, but the Indians were able take care of business from the free throw line to pick up the win.

ICC will hit the road to face No. 24 Pearl River on Thursday. The Wildcats (10-2, 2-0 MACCC) defeated Hinds, 74-72, on Monday.  The First American National Bank opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game can be watched at prccmedia.com/gold.
