Indians hold off Coahoma in 69-61 road win

Clarksdale, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College men's basketball program kicked off a busy three games in four days stretch Wednesday night with a gutsy 69-61 win over Coahoma.

It was a back-and-forth contest and the Indians (7-1) held a 33-31 lead at halftime, but the closing minutes would prove to be the difference in the contest.

A late three pointer from Chris Minton (Indianola) gave the Indians and three point lead, 64-61, and the defense was able to hold the Tigers scoreless for the final 3:40 of the contest to pick up the win.

The defense forced 17 turnovers in the games and forced the Tigers to shoot 39 percent from the field.

Kolby Horace (Spanish Fort, Ala.) led the offensive charge for the Indians with a team-high 16 points, followed by Geroge Marshall (Jackson) with 15 points. Josh Lee (Canton) added 13 points in the win.

The Indians will have a quick turnaround as they host Stillman's JV tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. inside the Davis Event Center.
