Indians fall to Meridian

Fulton, Miss. – Fulton, Miss. - Itawamba Community College men's basketball was unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell to Meridian Community College 65-56 Monday night.

The Indians (9-5, 3-4 MACCC) fell behind early as the Eagles (13-4, 5-3) scored the game's first two baskets and later extended the lead to take a 34-27 advantage into halftime.

Meridian extended their lead to 14, 54-40, with 10 minutes left in regulation, but the Indians were able to cut the lead to eight, 62-54, with two minutes left to play. However, the Eagles were able to hold off the Indians' comeback attempt and picked up the 65-56 win.

Daniel Mayfield (Toccoa, Ga.) led the Indians with 14 points, followed by Fred Cleveland, Jr. (Chicago, Ill.) with 12 points. Christian Terrell paced the Eagles with 24 points.

The Indians will travel to Perkinston Thursday, Jan. 27 for a conference game against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
