Indians improve to 7-1 with win at ASU Mid-South

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Fred Cleveland, Jr. scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half to help Itawamba Community College hold off Arkansas State University Mid South's late rally with 58-51 win on the road Saturday.

Trailing 26-20 at halftime, the Indians (7-1) took the lead for good when Keyvon Pearson nailed a three to take a 39-36 with 12:31 remaining. The Greyhounds (4-5) went on a 6-0 run to make it a 46-43 contest with 7:55 left to play but the Indians took care of business from the free throw line to pick up the seven-point victory.

"I felt like our defensive intensity made a big difference in the second half," said Coach Grant Pate. "It forced them to take some tough shots and created some opportunities for us in transition. We also shot the ball a lot better from the free throw line tonight, especially down the stretch. That's a real big boost in hard fought games like these."

The Indians went 10 of 17 from the line.

Rock Robinson added 11 points in the win with four clutch free throws in the final moments of the game.

The Indians will travel to Booneville to face No. 18 Northeast (7-2, 0-1 MACCC) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
