Indians win big over Holmes

Fulton, Miss. – To wrap up the first half of division play, the Indians picked up a big 82-64 win over Holmes Monday night.

The Indians (7-9, 3-3 MACJC North) had five players score in double figures and led for most of the contest.

Tyler Smith (Atlanta, Ga) made his presence known early with a big time dunk and he continued to have a big night and finish with a team-high and career-high 22 points.

By halftime, the Indians had stretched their early lead out to 12 points, 39-27, and after five minutes of the second half, they led 54-36.

Holmes didn't go away quietly as they battled and cut into the lead, but the Indians were able to extend their lead on their way to the big win.

Behind Smith's big night, Brandon Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) scored 14 points, while Kendricus Carlton (Batesville) and Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) added 11 points each. Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka) rounded out the scoring for the Tribe with a 10-point performance.

The Indians are currently tied for third in the North Division with Northwest, and the two will go head-to-head Thursday night in Senatobia at 7:30 p.m. In their first meeting, the Rangers picked up a 65-56 in Fulton. The key division battle will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
