Indians fall to Volunteer State, 82-75

Fulton, Miss. – ICC opened their season Monday with a tough battle with Volunteer State, and despite making a late run, the Indians fell 82-75.

The Indians (0-1) led by as much as 10 in the game and held a slim 38-37 at halftime, but fell behind by 11 in the second half. However, they were able to rally back and cut the lead to three, 75-71, in the final minutes on a Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) layup.

Despite the late charge by the Indians, the Pioneers (1-1) were able to extend their lead over the final minute to pick up the win.

Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka) led the Indians with a 20-point performance, and Doolittle scored a career-high 17 points. In his collegiate debut, Brandon Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Indians will hit the road for the first time Thursday when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. To face Huntingdon College's JV squad at 8 p.m.
