Indians rally falls short at East Mississippi

Scooba, Miss. – The Indians cut East Mississippi's lead to a two possession game in the final minutes, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling 63-51.

After a low scoring first half, the Lions found their offense after the break to pull away for a 17-point lead in the second half, but the Indians (10-12, 4- MACJC North) didn't go away quietly.

The Indians rallied to cut the lead to single digits. A deep three from Rance Champ (Shannon) to make it a 51-40 game with 5:21 left started the late charge. Shamar Brown (Olive Branch) hit a jumper, followed by a Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) free throw make it a 56-51 contest with 48.3 second left in the game.

East Mississippi nailed a three on the ensuing possession and took care of business from the free throw line to hang on for a 63-51 win.

Kendricus Carlton (Batesville) led the Indians with 13 points with Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka) and Brown added 12 points each.

The Indians will wrap up the regular season Thursday night in Fulton when they host Holmes Community College at 7:30 p.m.
