Indians struggle in loss to Northeast

FULTON, Miss. – Early foul problems and offensive struggles doomed the Indians in its 70-56 loss to Northeast on Thursday.

Trailing 37-25 at the break, the Indians (5-7, 0-2 MACJC North) rallied to make it a 49-42 contest on a pair of free throws from Cartisco Brown (Indianola) midway through the second half. The Tigers (11-2, 1-1 MACJC North) answered with a 14-5 run before pulling away for the lopsided victory.

The Indians shot 31 percent from the floor and shot a dismal 19.2 percent from three. The Tigers connected on 39 percent shooting and 36.4 percent from beyond the arch.

Brown led the Indians with 11 points while Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) added 10 points in the loss. Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka), the Indians' leading scorer, went to the bench after picking up his second foul at the 15:55 mark of the first half and sat the remainder of the half. He finished with a season-low six points.

DeAnthony Tipler led the Tigers with 14 points.

ICC will be back in action Monday night at ASU-Mid South starting at 6:00 p.m. Both the Indians and Lady Indians will return to the Davis Event Center on Thursday when they step back into division play against Mississippi Delta.
