Carlton's career night leads Indians by Lawson State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Indians wrapped up the 2018 half of the season behind a career night from Kendricus Carlton in impressive 77-56 road win over Lawson State on Monday.

Carlton (Batesville) came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points and grab a career-best eight rebounds while adding an assists and steal in the win.

After a slow start by both teams, the Indians went on a 10-6 run to take a 22-13 lead with 5:12 left before closing the half with a 13-9 run to take a 35-22 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) drilled a NBA-range to give the Indians a 42-28 lead at the 15:25 mark of the second. Carlton drove baseline and threw down a dunk to give Indians a 47-31 lead midway through the half. Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka) grabbed an offensive rebound and put the game on ice with a lay-up to take a 65-41 lead with 3:43 left to play before a pair of dunks by Jadakiss Williams (Memphis, Tenn.) added the exclamation points to the victory.

Doolittle had 14 points and seven assists while Akeem Kirkwood (Weir) added 13 points and 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

The Indians head into the Christmas break at 4-5 and 0-1 in conference play.

ICC will return to action on Saturday, January 5 when they host Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at the Davis Event Center.
