Indians fall in double overtime against Shreveport, 109-104

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians wrapped up the 2017 half of the season with a heartbreaking 109-104 double overtime loss to Southern Shreveport on Fan Appreciation Day.

The Indians (5-4) saw a 48-37 halftime lead slowly disappear in the second half before the Jaguars (3-8) tied the game, 77-77, with 2:02 left in the game. Brian Halums (Simmons) drained a pair of free throws to force the game into overtime tied 79-79.

Halums knocked down a three from well beyond NBA range to tie the game 92-92 with 5.8 seconds left in overtime. A turnover by the Jags and a rushed, last-second shot missed by the Indians allowed the game to go into overtime.

The Jaguars took care of business from the free throw line in the final 50 seconds to hang on for the 109-104 victory.

Halums scored a career-high 41 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his fourth-straight and fifth overall double-double of the season. Joshua Greer (Jackson, TN) added 17 points while Chayton York (Philadelphia) scored 15 and dished out 9 assists in his first start of the season. Tre Jenkins (Tupelo) came off the bench to score 12 and Eric Brown (Greenville) added 10 in the loss.
