Indians take care of Lawson State, 88-59

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians turned a slow start into a dominating performance in their 88-59 win over Lawson State (AL) Community College on Monday.

The Indians went the first six-plus minutes of the game without scoring a point before a three from Tre Jenkins (Tupelo) and a jumper by Joseph Jones (Tupelo) gave the Indians a 5-4 lead at the 13:22 mark of the first half.

ICC went on a 15-4 run over the next four minutes to cruise into halftime with a 35-19 lead.

Jenkins drained back-to-back threes to push the Indians out to a 48-24 lead over the Cougars with 16:35 left in the contest. ICC would take a 30-point lead in the second half before picking up the 29-point victory.

Six Indians scored in double figures with Ole Miss signee Brian Halums (Simmons) lead the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Jones and Eric Brown (Greenville) each added 12 points with Jones recording his first-ever collegiate double-double by grabbing 12 rebounds on the night. Jenkins and Kendrick Fountain (Holly Springs) each had 11 points and Jamaris Briggs (Byhalia) added 10 in the victory.

The Indians will face Jones County Junior College on Thursday in their first Region 23 game of the season. The First American National Bank opening tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 and the game will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/RED.
