Halums signs with Ole Miss

FULTON, Miss. – ICC sophomore guard/forward Brian Halums has signed with the University of Mississippi men's basketball program.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Simmons native averaged 17.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to earn MACJC First Team All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors. He shot 55.1 percent from the floor and 44.8 percent from three while making 78.6 percent of his free throw attempts.

Halums is averaging 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists through the first two games of his sophomore season. He's shooting 53.6 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the charity stripe.

He caught the attention of Coach Andy Kennedy during the summer at the All-American JUCO Showcase Elite 80 and Mullen's Junior College Top 100 Camp, invite-only events.
Halums averaged 11.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in three games to earn a spot amonst the Top 20 players in the Elite 80 show, which is consider one of the top JUCO events in the country. He was selected to participate in the Showcase's All-Star game where he scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.

Halums picked Ole Miss over offers from Arkansas-Little Rock, Cal State Bakersfield, Florida Gulf Coast, Louisiana-Monroe, Mississippi Valley State, Murray State, Prairie View A&M, Tennessee-Martin, Troy, and UTEP.

The Indians will be back in action Thursday night at Shelton State (AL) Community College and will return to the Davis Event Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13 against Lawson State (AL) Community College.
