Indians open season against Wallace-Selma

FULTON, Miss. – ICC will open its 2017-18 basketball season on Thursday, November 2 against Wallace Community College-Selma. The Lady Indians will tip things off at 5:30 with the Indians following at 6:30 in Fulton.

ICC will play 11 of its 21 regular season games at the Davis Event Center with Wallace -Selma, Lawson State Community College (AL), Shelton State Community College (AL), Jones County Junior College, Southern-Shreveport Community College (LA), and Mid-South Community College (AR) all traveling to Fulton for non-division games.

The Indians will look to improve on their quarterfinals appearance in the MACJC Tournament after finishing 11-12 overall and 7-5 inside division play.

Three returning sophomores will look to lead the Indians this season. Ole Miss commit Brian Halums (Simmons) earned MACJC North All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23 team honors after averaging a team-high 17.3 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds while blocking 1.4 shots per game as a freshman. Tre Jenkins (Tupelo) averaged 8.4 points and 2.0 rebounds while starting in 17 of 23 games last season. Eric Brown (Greenville) scored 4.8 points, grabbed 1.4 rebounds, and dished out 1.8 assists in 23 games as a freshman.

Like the Lady Indians, the Indians will have eight new faces on their roster. Joseph Jones (Tupelo) was a redshirt last season. True freshmen include: Greg Robinson (Biggesville), Paris Harris (Hot Springs, AR), Chayton York (Philadelphia), Casey McQueen (Carthage), Joshua Greer (Jackson, TN), Kendrick Fountain (Holly Springs), and Jamaris Briggs (Byhalia).

This season the North Division champion will host the MACJC State Tournament.
