FULTON, MS – Coach Grant Pate announced three sophomores Charles Brown, Martaveous McKnight and Quenten Taylor have signed to continue their careers as student-athletes next season.  

Brown (New Orleans) signed with the Cardinals of University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward prepped at St. Augustine High School, home of former San Antonio Spurs point guard Avery Johnson and New Jersey Nets star Kerry Kittles. He began his collegiate career at Murray State University, where he played in 16 games and recorded 1.7 rebounds per game in limited minutes.

Brown transferred to ICC and averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game to earn a spot on the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North All-State Second Team as a sophomore. He was named MVP of the MACJC All-Star game after scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  

Incarnate Word will be a member of the Southland Conference next season and will be eligible for the NCAA Tournament.

McKnight (Walls) signed with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard played at Lake Cormorant High School, where he averaged 24 points per game during his senior season. He was selected to the Commercial Appeal's Best of the Preps Class AAA Boys team in his final season with the Gators.

As a freshman, McKnight was named one of the country's Top Incoming Freshmen by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). That season he averaged 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 per game.

This season, he averaged 8.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

UAPB is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Taylor (Edison, GA) returned to his home state and signed with the Georgia Southwestern State University Hurricanes.

The 6-foot, 175-pound point guard was a three sport standout at Calhoun County High School (GA). As a senior, he helped lead the basketball team to a 30-2 record and its third state championship.

In his first season with the Indians, Taylor averaged 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He hit a game-winning three pointer at the buzzer to help the Indians upset No. 19 Shelton State (AL) Community College, 67-64. [Click here to see the buzzer beater]

As a sophomore, he was selected to the MACJC All-Star game after averaging 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.

Georgia Southwestern is a member of the Peach Belt Conference and is located in Americus, Georgia.
