Indians fall to Bobcats 109-80

ELLISVILLE, MS – Jones County Junior College defeated the Itawamba Community College men's basketball team 109-80 Thursday night lead by five players who scored 13 points or more.

The Indians (1-3) didn't have a poor shooting performance as they shot 53.4 percent from the floor and played the Bobcats tight in the second half scoring only six points less than the home team. However, they were unable to overcome the 23 point first half deficit after they trailed 58-35 at halftime.

Sophomore guard Martaveous McKnight (Walls) paced the Indians scoring a season-high 17 points and Brian Halums (Hollandale) followed with 12. Charles Brown (New Orleans, LA) and Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) added 11 points each.

Crashing The Boards

The biggest difference in the contest Thursday night was the Bobcats ability to crash the boards and grab rebounds. The Indians were only able to pick up 19 rebounds while the Bobcats grabbed 50.

Throwing It Up

The teams combined for 141 shots as the Bobcats took 83 shots in the and the Indians threw up 58.

Free Throws

Both teams were hot from the line in the contest as the Indians made 9-12 and the Bobcats 20-22.

Short Time Off

The Indians will get a break for Thanksgiving but won't get much rest as they take hit the road again Monday November 28, to take on a tough Shelton State Community College squad in Tuscaloosa, AL at 7:30 p.m.
