Indians hold on for 75-66 win over the Saints

ANDALUSIA, AL - Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) scored the final eight of his 14 points from the free throw line to help the Indians outlast the Lurleen B. Wallace Saints, 75-66, and pick up their first win of the season.

Taylor added five rebounds and seven assists in the win. 

ICC (1-1) led 43-33 after the first half of play and saw the Saints (0-1) make it a two-point contest, 50-48, less than seven minutes into the second half.

The Indians maintained a five to seven point advantage through the rest of the second half before going on a small run to take a 68-57 lead with one minute, 48 seconds left in the game. ICC took care of business from the free throw line to pick up the nine-point victory. 

Brian Halums (Simmons) scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Charles Brown (New Orleans) added 13 and six boards, and Martaveous McKnight (Walls) had 11 for the Indians. Marcus Carouthers (Aberdeen) came off the bench to score six points and grab eight rebounds - four crucial boards down the stretch to help the Indians hold off the late game rally by the Saints. 

Chancellor Lockett led the Saints with 16 in the loss.

REBOUNDING FROM THE LINE

After going 2 of 11 for the free throw line in their one-point season opening loss at Wallace-Selma, the Indians rebounded to convert on 18 of 22 from the charity stripe.

CARPE DIEM

Nine of the 11 players that saw action Thursday night seized their moment and contributed to the Indians' scoring output.

DELAY OF GAME

The Indians will not return to the hardwood until Monday, November 14 when they host Shelton State (AL) Community College.
