FULTON, MS - Coahoma Community College came in to Thursday night's MACJC North matchup averaging 75 points per game, but a strong defensive performance by Itawamba Community College's men's team held them to their second lowest scoring performance of the season.

The Indians (11-7, 4-3 MACJC North) forced the Tigers to shoot 30 percent from the floor, propelling them to the 87-53 division win.

Early in the contest, the lead exchanged hands nine times, but a three-pointer by Carter Sweat (Piperton, TN) put the Indians up for good midway through the first half. At halftime, the Indians led 34-25, but extended it to 30 points, 67-37, when Barri Hill (Jasper, Al) grabbed one of his eight rebounds and scored on a put back.

The Indians defense controlled the entire second half, keeping the Tigers (4-14, 1-6 MACJC North) from finding a rhythm which led to a 87-53 victory.

Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) led the Indians with a game-high 19 points, followed by Howard Thomas (Brandon) who added 13 points and grabbed 10 rebound to complete the double-double. Hill chipped in 12 points for the Indians and LaDarius Woods (Tunica) finished with 11 points.

Shannon Bailey paced the Tigers with 11 points.

The Indians will travel to Northwest Community College Monday for another MACJC North Division matchup. Tipoff is schedule for 7:00 pm in Senatobia.
