FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College men's basketball squad were unable to overcome an early deficit and fell 69-57 to East Mississippi Community College Tuesday night.

The Indians (10-5, 3-2 MACJC North) fell behind early and trailed by as much as 18 in the first half. At halftime, the Indians managed to cut into the lead, but the Lions (12-2, 2-2 MACJC North) still held a 12 point advantage, 39-27, at the break.

In the second half, the Indians rallied and pulled within five, 46-41, as Howard Thomas (Brandon) hit a layup and Carter Sweat (Piperton, TN) drained a three pointer from the side.

Despite the Indians pulling within striking distance, the Lions managed to hold off the charge and extend their lead and hold on for the 69-57 division road win.

Thomas led the Indians with 14 points, while Sweat chipped in 12. Justin Edmond (Horn Lake) and Quentin Taylor (Edison, GA) added 10 points each in the losing effort.

Nat Dixon paced the Lions with a game-high 20 point performance, followed by Daniel Simmons with 13, and Jahyde Gardiner with 12.

The Indians look to rebound on the road Thursday when they travel to Morehead to take on MACJC North Division foe, Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans. Tip off is set for at 8:00 pm.
