FULTON, Miss. – It felt like Déjà vu for the Itawamba Community College Indians Thursday night as they dropped their second heartbreaking loss of the week on a last-second shot, falling 67-65 to East Mississippi.

The Indians knew it would be a tough matchup against the Lions, who are in the hunt for the MACJC North Division title. However, the Indians battled right from the get-go and only trailed by three, 37-34, at halftime.

At the midway point of the second half, Louisiana-Lafayette signee Tyrone Wooten (Memphis, TN) gave the Indians the lead a three-point play and Lakee Westbrook (Shannon) added a big three-pointer to push the lead to 48-44.

In a back-and-forth battle in the last five minutes, the Indians trailing by two in the closing seconds. With 4.3 remaining in regulation, the Indians had possession, and Dee Gates (Baldwyn) drove the lane and took a shot along with a lot of contact, but no foul was called, and the shot was knocked away to give the Lions the win.

Wooten scored a game-high 22 points, and Howard Thomas (Brandon) followed with 15.

The Indians will wrap up the season Monday night as they travel to Moorhead to take on the Mississippi Delta Trojans. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
