FULTON, MS – Five Indians scored in double figures as ICC defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast, 97-89, to advance to Thursday's MACJC Championship game.

In a back-and-forth battle, Lakee Westbrook (Shannon) hit a three from the wing to put the Indians (17-9) up 10 with just over two minutes left to play and held off multiple rallies by the Bulldogs (19-7) to hang on for the 8-point victory.

Tyrone Wooten (Memphis, TN) scored a game-high 29 and grabbed 8 rebounds while fellow Memphis native Alex Anderson added 22 along with dishing out 5 assists for the Indians.

Tory Rice (Starkville) scored 11 points and collected 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season. Johnthan McGee (Jackson) had 11 and Westbrook chipped in 10 in the win.

Auburn football signee Tony Bridges led Gulf Coast with 25 points.

The Indians will face a familiar foe in Thursday night's championship in the East Mississippi Lions.

The Lions (19-5) defeated No. 19 Jones County, 75-69, behind a 31-point performance from Avery Woodson that saw the sophomore connect on nine three pointers in the win.

Jacolby Mobley added 19 and Devonta Pollard scored 12 for the Lions.

Leroy Fludd paced the Bobcats (20-5) with 30 points.

The men's championship game will tip at 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Event Center.

Southwest, Jones County to battle for women's title

The magical run for the No. 4 seeded Southwest Lady Bears (19-6) continues after their 72-64 win over Meridian (19-6) in the first game of the day. April Levy led Southwest with 26 and Miaya Crowder scored 29 for Meridian.

Jones County (19-7) and Pearl River (15-7) traded baskets for most of the second half before the Lady Bobcats pulled away in the end for the 74-71 victory. Kaylan Hughes led Jones with 18 while Deandra Darjean scored 24 for Pearl River.

The women's championship game will tip at 6:00 p.m.
