ELLISVILLE, MS -- The Indians dropped their second-straight in the final seconds of the game as Jones held off a late rally to defeat ICC 91-87.

"We knew coming into the game that Jones is one of the teams favored to win the South Division," said Coach Grant Pate. "I'm proud of the way the guys played and even though we were down most of the game we still had a chance to win at the end."

Down 89-87 with 21.7 left, the Indians (2-2, 0-0 MACJC North) missed a go-ahead three and Jones knocked down a pair of free throws to secure the victory.

"Night in, night out you want to be in a position to win the ball game," commented Pate. "Our guys are giving us that opportunity to win by playing really hard, but we have to start doing a better job of taking care of the ball and playing better on defense."

Alex Anderson (Memphis, TN) scored a game-high 21 with Lakee Westbrook (Shannon) and Johnthan McGee (Raymond) added 15 each while Tory Rice (Starkville) had 14 for the Indians.

ICC will travel to Meridian Community College next Thursday to wrap up their four-game road tilt.
