Former ICC standout named new basketball coach at Aberdeen HS

FULTON, MS – Former Itawamba Community College men's basketball standout Cornelius Gilleylen has been named the new head men's basketball coach at Aberdeen High School.

The 2003 graduate of Amory High School started every game during his two seasons (2003-04; 04-05) for the Indians under former ICC basketball coach Marty Cooper.

After graduating from ICC in May of 2005, he signed to play basketball at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. He earned Defensive Player of the Year honors while helping lead the Hilltoppers win the Heartland Conference championship during his senior season and is currently ranked third with 119 career steals.

Gilleylen returned to the Hilltoppers' program as a student assistant and served as an assistant coach at East Central Community College and Jones County Junior College before becoming an assistant under legendary Aberdeen basketball coach Roy Hazzle.
