FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College head men's basketball coach Grant Pate announced sophomore DJ Gardner and Deontaye Ewing will participate in the Mullen's JUCO Top 100 Showcase July 13 to 15 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Gardner, a Parade All-American from Okolona HS, was the only player from the state of Mississippi selected to participate in this year's elite camp of the Showcase after leading the Indians in scoring at 14.3 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding with 6.1 boards a night after becoming eligible for the second half of the season.

"We are excited for DJ being selected to the elite camp," said Pate. "It's an honor for him to be invited to this event and to be considered one of the Top 25 players in the nation participating in this year's showcase."

Ewing averaged 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2 assists per game last season and was selected to participate in the Showcase.

"It's great to see all of Deontaye's hard work and dedication pay off for him by also being selected to this event," Pate said of his former Tupelo High standout. "We are just as excited for him as we are DJ and hopefully this will lead to good things for the entire team next season."

The Top 100 Junior College Showcase is an invitational exposure event that features the nation's top JUCO basketball players hosted by Jerry Mullen and is attended by over 200 NCAA DI programs and NBA scouts.

"Jerry Mullen is highly respected on the junior college level and for these guys to be invited speaks volumes for their talent and desire to play at the next level. We are excited for both these guys and the things they'll be able to bring back from this event to help the team next season," Pate said.
