RAYMOND - ICC picked up their second win of the 2023 season in a 26-14 thriller at Hinds Thursday night.

After Dylan Rowsey (Biggersville) picked off an Eagles pass on their first offensive drive, the Indians marched down the field and struck first when Luke Jackson (Conwell-Egan Catholic, Pa.) hit a 22-yard field goal to go up early in the first quarter.

ICC's next score came late in the second quarter when quarterback Tylan Carter (Choctaw County) connected with receiver Jermaine Strong (Aberdeen) for a 15-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 10-0.

Not long after the fourth quarter began, Carter had his second touchdown pass of the night when he found TJ Atkins (Ritter Prep, Mo.) for a 47-yard score.

In the last few seconds of the game, Hinds had possession at the goal line as they looked to take the lead and the win. However, the defensive unit came up big when Zech Pratt (Tupelo) picked off an Eagles' pass and returned it for a 100-yard touchdown as time expired to give the Indians the 26-14 win.

After a rough start to the season, ICC Head Football Coach Travis Macon said that week by week, the team continues to improve.

"One thing I can say about my young guys is they believe," said Macon. "They believe every week; they come out and try the best they can and as hard as they can. So I believe if they work hard, we'll find a way to get the win."

Carter finished 10-for-16 passing with 112 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also added 40 yards rushing off 12 carries. Charleston French (Amory) had a solid performance racking up 121 yards on the ground with his longest gain of 38 yards.

Jackson also had a perfect showing when he went 2-for-2 in both field goals and extra point attempts.

The Indians will return home to Eaton Field when they host No. 11 East Mississippi Thursday night. The Davis Ford Pregame Show will start at 6:30 p.m. on LetsGoICCTV.com/red. SuperTalk 101.9 FM will join the broadcast with the First American National Bank opening kickoff at 7 p.m.
