Indians fall to No. 6 East Mississippi in division opener

Scooba, Miss. – Itawamba Community College's football program dropped its first game of division play Thursday to No. 6 East Mississippi Community College, 48-3.

The Indians (0-3, 0-1 MACJC North) fell behind early as the Lions (2-1, 1-0 MACJC North) scored on big plays in the opening two drives of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Indians trailed 24-0, but a 26-yard field goal by Skylar Grissom (Fulton) put the Indians on the board with 9:38 remaining until halftime.

After the Lions scored 17 unanswered points, the deficit was extended to 41-3 by halftime.

With a running clock in the second half, the Lions scored again to pick up the 48-3 victory.

The Indians had 194 yards of total offense while Clark Mills (Ecru) and Dylan Faulk (Hernando) combined for 106 yards passing. Three ICC running backs picked up a combined 105 yards on the ground, but a pair of sacks cut the Indians' rushing total to 86 in the division opener.

Keshun Parker (Calhoun City) led the Indians in tackles for the second consecutive week with eight (six solo, two assists).

The Indians look to rebound in week four in their return to Fulton for the first time since week one to face Coahoma Community College for another division showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and ICC will host its annual Military Appreciation Night to honor past and current members of the armed forces at halftime.
