Indians knock off No. 18 Holmes, 37-34

GOODMAN, Miss. – Clark Mills threw for a career high 427 yards and three touchdowns with one interception while rushing for 30 yards on four carries as Itawamba Community College (4-2, 3-1 MACJC North) defeated No. 18 Holmes Community College (3-3, 1-3 MACJC North) a 37-34 on Thursday.

The Indians scored 17-unanswered points after falling behind 20-13 in the second quarter to take a 30-20 lead on a 24-yard field goal by Caleb Comer (Caledonia) at the 10:57 mark of the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs stayed within striking distance with an 8-yard touchdown pass with 7:41 left in the game.

Mills (Ecru) found De'Sean Dinkins (Warner Robins, Ga.) on a slip screen that turned into a 51-yard scoring toss to push the Indians' lead back out to 10 with 6:12 left. Holmes didn't go quietly into the hot October night and answered with a 17-yard pass to make it 37-34 with just under two minutes left to play.

Dinkins rushed for 40 yards on nine carries and added 56 yards and a touchdown on a pair of receptions.

ICC was able to move the changes and eventually kneel their way to the 37-34 instant classic victory over the No. 18 Bulldogs.
