FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College sophomore quarterback Peyton Bender was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday.

The Fort Lauderdale, FL native and Washington State University transfer is the first Indian to earn Player of the Week honors this season for his performance in the 49-7 Homecoming victory over Mississippi Delta Community College Saturday.

Bender completed 25 of 37 pass attempts for four touchdowns and 354 yards to eclipse the 2,000 yard mark this season.

In eight games, Bender has thrown for 2,267 yards while completing 172 of his 273 passing attempts and is in the top five nationally in completions, attempts, yards and yards per game.

Bender and the No. 15 Indians (5-3, 2-3 MACJC North) will wrap up regular season play Saturday when they travel to Goodman for MACJC North battle with the No. 19 Holmes Community College Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m.
