FULTON, MS - The Fortius Project will be holding its third combine of 2016 on April 30th when it comes to ICC. Sign-in will begin at 9 AM on the morning of and will last until 10 AM. At that time campers will begin to stretch and warm up before testing begins. The first half of the day will be designated for competitors to record times in a 40-yard dash, a 5-10-5 shuttle drill and a broad jump. Once each camper has recorded two times each in those three drills, the competitive portion of the day will ensue. That includes 1-on-1s and 7-on-7 action. Just before the camp comes to an end at 2 PM, there will be a speaker from Fellowship of Christian Athletes and an awards ceremony.
The camp is open to all players currently in grades 6th through 11th. Signing up is easy, as you can find the registration on sesportsinsider.com or on the @SESMississippi Twitter feed. Signing up a week before the event means that you will receive the $60 early sign-up rate. However, walk ups on the day of the event are welcome, though the price will be $75 for those who do that. There is a group rate available for groups of 8 or more players from the same school which makes the fee $40. When signing up on the website there is a medical waiver that needs to be printed, filled out and brought to the camp. After that, campers only need to bring shorts and cleats, as a Fortius Project shirt will be provided to each attendee.
Two reps for each competitor at each testing drill is designed to highlight the Fortius concept. Fortius is the Latin word for stronger. So the idea of the Fortius Project camps is for those that attend to attempt to be better than they were on their last attempt. Not necessarily to focus on being better than their opponent, but better than themselves, their last rep and better than they thought they could be. So the MVP of the camp will win the STRONGER award. There will also be an All-Combine team consisting of the 15 additional players.
All media, parents, coaches and spectators are welcome to come and observe, as well as take photographs, at the event. We are pleased and thankful to Itawamba Community College to be able to use their beautiful and picturesque facility, Eaton Field.
