For 23 seasons, Rick Collier was the quiet architect behind one of the most respected programs in junior college baseball. He never chased the spotlight. He wasn’t one for grand gestures or victory laps. But now, with 704 wins etched into the record books, Collier is stepping away. Not with a roar, but with the steady grace that defined his entire career.
Three ICC baseball players have been named to the 2025 All-Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Teams, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Former Major League Baseball pitcher and Itawamba Community College standout Tim Dillard will be inducted into the Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame on April 22, 2025. The induction ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Clyde Muse Center on the Hinds Community College campus.
“It’s never been about me,” he said. “I’ve never hit a baseball since I’ve been coaching here at ICC. I’ve never caught one. I’ve never pitched one. I just let all these guys get after it and this moment is about all those guys that earned those 700 wins.”
In a high-scoring affair with 30 total runs, the Indians came out on top, 18-12, in a marathon victory. They tied the record for second-most home runs (5) and hits (21) in a single game since 2013.
