Indians win Game 1 over No. 2 East Central

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians earned a split with No. 2 East Central Warriors.

Game 1: Indians 9, No. 2 East Central 6

The Indians scored two run in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings before adding an insurance run in the eighth to upset No. 2 ranked East Central, 9-6, Saturday.

Hayden Roberts scored on a double by Jude Treadaway, who would later score on an error, to give the Indians a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth. The Warriors answered with a RBI single in the seventh to tie the game.

Dre McCray smashed a two-run home run to left to put the Indians up, 8-6, in the home half of the seventh before Jarrett Morris scored on a passed ball in the eight to add an insurance run to the board in the eighth.

The Warriors went three up, three down in the top of the ninth and the Indians picked up the three-run win in game one.

The Indians jumped out to a 3-0 on a double by Ben Davis that scored Treadaway, a sacrifice fly by Collier to score Jaxin Settlemires and a double by Roberts to score Davis. East Central took its first lead of the game by scoring four runs in the top of the second.

Morris tied the game, 4-4, with a single to center that scored Collier in the bottom of the third.

East Central regained the lead, 5-4, on a sacrifice fly in the sixth but the rest of the game would belong to the Indians as they rallied to upset the No. 2 Warriors.

McCray, Treadaway and Roberts each had two hits in the win. Davis, Treadaway and Roberts each had a double and McCray added a home run.

Tyler Yearwood picked up the win after giving up one unearned run on one hit and a walk while striking out three in 3.1 innings of work.

Game 2: No. 2 East Central 13, Indians 8

The Indians scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh before the Warriors could stop the late-game rally to earn a split with the Indians with a 13-8 win in game two.

Treadaway and Roberts had three hits each while Settlemires and McCray both had a pair of hits.

Davis was the pitcher of record after giving up eight runs, all earned, on eight hits and five walks while striking out five in 2.2 innings.

The Indians are scheduled to travel to Mississippi Delta on Wednesday.
