Indians split with Northeast

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians picked up a hard-fought win in game one and dropped a heartbreaker in game two to earn a split with rival Northeast on Wednesday.

Game 1: Indians 2, Northeast 1

Jude Treadaway scored on a single by Bo Rock in the bottom of the first. The Tigers pulled even in the top of the second when they drew a hit by pitch with bases loaded.

Treadaway pushed across the eventual game-winning run on a hard hit ground ball to center that scored Dre McCray in the fourth. Northeast put the tying run on first with one out in the top of the ninth, but Treadaway-Jaxin Settlemires-Rock turned a double play (6-4-3) to secure the game one victory.

Treadaway and Rock had four of the Indians six hits in the game.

Tyler Yearwood picked up the win after scattering two hits and no walks while striking out five in 5.2 innings of work.

Game 2: Northeast 5, Indians 4

Northeast got a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to pick up 5-4 win in the nightcap and earn a split with the Indians.

Settlemires reached on an one-out single and Stone Collier was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh to put the potential game winning run on base, but the Tigers got back-to-back strikeouts to escape with the one-run victory.

The Indians took a 2-0 lead when Jackson Lee scored on a triple by Brock Ware, who would later score on an error, in the bottom of the second inning. Treadaway double to score Hayden Roberts and Luke Wood to take a 4-2 lead in the fifth.

Northeast got a run back in the sixth on a ground out that would set things up for the seventh-inning rally.

Treadaway had a double and Ware added a triple in the Indians' five-hit performance.

Ty Wicker gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits and no walks while striking out five in seven innings.

The Indians will travel to Southwest Mississippi on Friday.
