Indians come up short vs Co-Lin

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians couldn't come up with timely hits in a pair of losses to Co-Lin on Saturday.

Game 1: Co-Lin 4, Indians 3

The Indians took a 1-0 lead on a double from Stone Collier that scored Jaxin Settlemires in the bottom of the first inning. Co-Lin answered to take a 2-1 lead after a RBI single in the second and a bases-loaded walk in the third.

Ben Davis drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a 2-2 contest after three complete.

The Wolves bounced back with a two-run single to go up 4-2 in the top of the fourth. Dre McCray smashed a solo home run to center to make it a one-run game in the home half of the inning.

The Indians loaded the bases in the sixth but a double play got the Wolves out of the inning with no damage done.

Settlemires, Collier and Hayden Roberts each had a pair of hits. Collier and Davis both had a double to go along with McCray's home run.

Ty Wicker was the pitcher of record after giving up four runs, two earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out five in 6.1 innings.

Game 2: Co-Lin 5, Indians 4

Settlemires got the Indians off to a hot start with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first, but the Wolves answered with a pair of runs to tie the game in the second.

The Indians retook the lead, 3-2, when Roberts scored on a single by Jude Treadaway after two complete. Co-Lin pulled even when they scored on a bases-loaded walk in the third and took the lead when they scored on a dropped ball in the outfield.

Wicker tied the game, 4-4, on a ground out that scored Settlemires in the fifth.

Co-Lin picked up a RBI single in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. The Indians put the tying run on third when Davis reached on a one-out triple in the home half of the inning. The Wolves got a ground out and a strike out to end the threat and secure the sweep.

Treadaway had a pair of hits. Bo Rock had a double to go along with Davis' triple and Settlemires' home run.

Matt Bourdon was the pitcher of record after giving up one run on two hits and no walks while striking out three in three innings of work.

The Indians will look to bounce back when they travel to East Mississippi on Tuesday.
