Indians sweep Coahoma in non-conference play

FULTON, Miss. –  The Indians picked up a pair of 6-2 non-conference wins over Coahoma on Thursday.

Game 1: Indians 6, Coahoma 2

The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 after Jackson Lee scored on a ground out by Stone Collier in the first and Dre McCray scored on an error in the second.

Bo Rock and Jarrett Morris hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth and Ty Wicker scored on a single by Treadaway to put the Indians up 5-0 after five complete.

Coahoma rallied with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but the Indians answered when Jaxin Settlemires scored on a sacrifice fly by Morris.

Rock had three hits and Treadaway added two more in the win.

Dixon Webb picked up the win after giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out two batters in six innings of work.

Game 2: Indians 6, Coahoma 2

The Indians were able to complete the sweep of the Tigers with a 6-2 win in the nightcap.

The Tigers jumped out to a hot start with back-to-back RBI singles to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Collier answered with a three-run bomb and Treadaway added a single to score Rock to give the Indians a 4-2 lead after one complete.

Jarrett Morris scored on a single by Treadaway in the third and Bryce Glenn added a run when Settlemires reached on an error in the sixth.

Settlemires and Treadaway each had a pair of hits in the game.

Matt Bourdon got the win after giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight in six innings.

The Indians will open conference play at No. 13 Meridian on Saturday.
