Indians open season with win at Bevill State

FAYETTE, Ala. – The Indians open the season with a 3-1 win at Bevill Fayette on Wednesday.

The Indians got on the board in the third inning when Bo Rock grounded out to push across Jaxin Settlemires.

The Bears pulled even when scoring off an Indian error in the fourth.

Settlemires smashed a solo home run to left to put the Indians back on top, 2-1, in the fifth. Stone Collier followed with a solo home run to left to give the Indians a two-run advantage in the sixth.

Ben Davis (1-0) picked up the win after giving up two hits and an unearned run while striking out four and walking one in four innings of work. Brayden Billingsley closed the door on the Bears' rally to pick up the save after not allowing any hits, walking one and striking out four in three innings of work.

Davis, Settlemires and Dre McCray each had a pair of hits in the Indians' eight-hit performance. Jackson Lee had a triple with Davis and Settlemires each adding a double to the hit count.
