No. 13 Indians fall to No. 5 Pearl River in region elimination game

Eunice, La. - No. 13 Itawamba Community College's season came to a close Wednesday with a 10-1 loss to No. 5 Pearl River Community College at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament.

The Indians battled with the Wildcats for the first four innings and only trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth. However, the Wildcats scored seven in the bottom of the frame to pull away and pick up the win.

Jackson Lee (Calhoun City) was the lone Indian with multiple hits going 2-for-3 and drove in the Indians only run on a single in the top of the fifth.

The Indians were held to only four hits while the Wildcats had 10.

Despite the season ending loss, the Indians had a strong season, finishing with a 36-13 record and being one of the final four teams in the region tournament. The Indians picked up big wins over ranked opponents during the regular season and finished ranked No. 13 in the NJCAA's final rankings.
