Senatobia, Miss. – A big seven RBI days from Jaxin Settlemires (Kossuth) and strong pitching performances propelled Itawamba Community College baseball to a big sweep over Northwest Mississippi Community College Tuesday.

Settlemires went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs scored, one double and a home run in as the Indians (32-10, 19-7 MACCC) defeated Northwest 8-2 in game one.

The Indians led 1-0 for most of the game until the sixth when Settlemires and Rock hit back-to-back run-scoring doubles, followed by a RBI single from Dre McCray (Water Valley) to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Northwest answered in the bottom of the sixth with one=run on two-hits, but Settlemires got the run back in the top of the seventh on a run-scoring single.

Settlemires put the game out of reach in the ninth with a two-run home run to left center.

On the mound, Brady Davis (Hamilton) and Reese Ruth (Fulton) held the Rangers to six hits and two runs with Davis throwing six innings and striking out four and allowing five hits and no earned runs. Ruth held the Rangers to one hit and one run over the final three innings.

Game 2: Indians 12, Rangers 1

Gray Bane (Olive Branch) join Settlemires in the hit parade going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one double and a home run in the nightcap. Settlemires went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double as the Indians scored 11 unanswered runs to pick up the 12-1 victory.

The game was tied at 1-1 after the second innings, but a big six-run top of the third put the Indians in front for good.

A RBI single from Settlemires started the scoring and Rock followed with a run-scoring single to put the Indians up 3-1. With the bases loaded, Bane hit a bases clearing double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Drew Capobianco (Saltillo).

Bane wasn't done on the day as he led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run. Matthew Martinolich (Ellisville) singled in a run and a few batters later, Settlemires hit a two-run scoring double to put the Indians up 11-1.

Jackson Lee (Calhoun City) scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth for the game's final run.

On the mound, Ben Davis (Booneville) and Matt Bourdon (Collierville, Tenn.) held the Rangers to four hits and 1 run. Davis allowed four hits and 1 run while striking out six in six inning of work, and Bourdon threw one shutout inning to close out the game.

The Indians will wrap up the regular season Friday when they travel to Jones College for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Currently the Indians are fourth place in the conference standings and one game behind Pearl River and Meridian who are tied for second. Pearl River's game two with Jones on Tuesday was suspended in extra innings, so the completion of that game will affect the standings.
