Indians split with Mississippi Delta

Moorhead, Miss. – The Indians went on the road Thursday and earned a doubleheader split with Mississippi Delta, taking game one with 9-1 run-rule victory and dropping game two, 7-0.

Game 1: Indians 9, Trojans 1 (7-innings)

The Indians picked up the game one win courtesy of the long ball as they blasted four home runs.

Bryce Capobianco (Saltillo) hit the first home run of the say in the top of the first when he hit a grand slam to right field.

Drew Coombs (Ripley) and Will Verdung (Corinth) hit solo home runs in the sixth and Blaine Ware (Batesville) hit a two-run homerun in the seventh.

Verdung drove in the lone run that wasn't scored off a home run on his second inning sacrifice fly.

Brady Davis (Hamilton) went the distance on the mound and picked up his third win of the season.

Game 2: Trojans 7, Indians 0

In game two, the Indians were only able to get three base runners on a hit batter, a walk and an error as the Trojans scored seven runs on seven hits.

The 7-0 game two loss gave the Indians the road split and are 4-4 in conference play.

The Indians will host East Central for a conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
