Indians fall to Hinds

Raymond, Miss. – In their first conference road doubleheader, the Indians fell on the road to Hinds losing game one 10-2 in seven innings and falling 10-7 in game two.

Game 1: Eagles 10, Indians 2 (7-innings)

Riley Davis (Collierville, Tenn.) gave the Indians an early 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the first, but Hinds answered in the bottom of the frame with five runs to take a 5-0 lead.

The Eagles added two runs in both the second and third innings to extend their lead to 9-1.

Eli Hancock (Houston) scored on a wild pitch in the fifth for the Indians final run of the game and Hinds plated one run in the sixth to take a 10-2 lead.

The Indians were unable to score in the seventh, giving the Eagles the run-rule victory.

Game 2: Eagles 10, Indians 7

The Indians fell behind early in game two as the Eagles scored seven runs over the first two innings.

Will Verdung (Corinth) singled home a run in the third, but the Eagles answered with two runs in the fourth to take a 9-1 lead. However, the Indians were not out as they rallied to score six runs in the top of the fifth.

Verdung singled to drive in two runs and Davis doubled to score the Indians' third run of the inning.

Bryce Capobianco (Saltillo) doubled to score two runs, followed by Matthew Martinolich (Ellisville) with a run scoring single to cut the Eagles' lead to 9-7.

The Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch and went on to pick up the 10-7 win and the sweep.

The Indians look to bounce back Wednesday when they travel to Moorhead for a conference double header with Mississippi Delta starting at noon.
