No. 17 Indians sweep Jackson State

Fulton, Miss. - The No. 17 ranked Itawamba Community College baseball team picked up their first sweep of the season Friday as they combined for 30 runs in the doubleheader against Jackson State Community College.

Game 1: Indians 16, Greenjays 6 (5-innings)

A 10-run second inning propelled the Indians (3-1) to their first run-rule victory of the season.

Bryce Capobianco (Saltillo) led the offensive charge going 3-for-3, while Connar Gardner (Southaven) went 2-for-4 with four RBI, all of which came in the second inning.

Riley Davis (Collierville, Tenn.) also picked up two RBI off his double that tied the contest in the bottom of the first. Matthew Martinolich (Ellisville) also had a double in the game and had his first multiple RBI game this season.

Blaine Ware picked up two RBI while going 2-for-4.

The ICC pitching staff had plenty of run support as Will Armistead (Mooreville) picked up his first win of the season in three innings of work, while Cameron Wright (Hatley) finished the game with two innings of work.

Game 2: Indians 14, Greenjays 4 (6-innings)

In what was a tight contest early on, the Indians had eight extra base hits as they pulled away late in the game scoring 11 runs in the final three innings.

Davis powered his way to a 3-for-4 game with six RBI with a two-run home run and a double, while Terris Meeks (Olive Branch) also went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double.

Ware drove in a run while picking up three hits including a pair of doubles.

Will Verdung (Corinth) also picked up a pair of hits in four plate appearances including a double and a standup triple.

Zach Seward (Eads, Tenn.) picked up his first win of the season with two innings of no hit work.

The Indians will host Snead State Community College Tuesday for a doubleheader with game one scheduled for 1 p.m. at Roy Cresap Field.
